Get Lean and Strong Without Giving Up Your Career, Your Social Life, or Your Beer
The 3-part starter framework I used to lose 70 pounds during 15 years in corporate finance, and the same one I teach clients in the Peak Physique Program.
If you're reading this, you probably don't need another diet. You've done the diets. What you need is a system that survives contact with your actual calendar: the client dinners, the travel weeks, the 7am meetings after a late night out.
Here's the same framework I use with my 1:1 clients, broken into three parts you can start using today.
Master the Weekly Average
Stop grading yourself on single days. One "bad" dinner doesn't ruin a week, a pattern of them does. What matters is your average across 7 days, not your perfection on any one of them.
- Aim for 80-90% of your meals to be whole, protein-forward foods you control.
- The other 10-20% is your flex: client dinners, drinks, the birthday cake. Planned, not punished.
- Before a big dinner, eat lighter and higher-protein earlier in the day. Don't "save up" by starving, just shift the balance.
Build a Travel-Proof Routine
You don't need a gym to stay on track. You need three non-negotiables that fit in a hotel room or a carry-on.
- Protein first: whatever else happens on a travel day, hit your protein target. It's the single biggest lever for staying lean and keeping muscle.
- Move daily, even briefly: a 20-minute hotel workout or a brisk walk between meetings beats skipping entirely and "starting fresh Monday."
- Protect your sleep window: late dinners happen, so pick a consistent wake time anyway. Recovery is where the real progress happens.
Drink Like It's Part of the Plan, Not a Cheat Day
You don't have to quit drinking to get in the best shape of your life. You have to stop letting drinking make your decisions for you.
- Decide your number before you sit down, not three drinks in.
- Alternate with water. Every other round, no exceptions.
- Pick clear spirits or light beer over sugary cocktails when it's a big night: same social experience, a fraction of the damage.
The Mindset Shift That Actually Matters
Every client who's kept the weight off long-term made the same shift: they stopped treating health like a project with an end date, and started treating it like a skill they were building, one that had to survive real life, not a sanitized version of it.
That's the difference between losing weight and losing it permanently.
