Tacos, Schedule Your Workouts, Dry Days
"Good days are coming. Feel the change they bring."
Alcohol Tip: Look ahead and carve out dry stretches
Heading into this week I knew my week night calendar was looking very clear.
No annoying work happy hours or dinners. Just a clear schedule Monday - Thursday, beautiful.
So I made a commitment at the beginning of the week to not drink Monday - Thursday. There's really no point. And then by the weekend, where I already have a few dinners and hangs with friends on the calendar, I'll have earned the drinks I consume.
You can also chunk this down and simply identify dry days if you know you have random commitments splattered throughout the week where you're gonna drink.
Look at your schedule and do whatever works.
The casual throwaway weeknights of 3-4 unnecessary glasses of wine while out to dinner with your significant other or sitting on the couch watching Netflix are the ones that are killing you.
You can get back well over 1000 calories per week by eliminating those.
And you'll sleep better and feel way fresher the day after.
And you'll save money.
And you'll prove to yourself that you don't NEED alcohol in any situation.
And you'll enjoy the drinks more that you consume later on during real events.
Exercise Tip: Put your workouts on the calendar
I have recurring blocks on my calendar for my workouts.
I treat them with the same level of importance as any work meeting or social commitment.
Would you ever not show up for a work call?
If you start treating your workouts with the same level of importance, you'll see that you always had the time and just never prioritized them enough.
Of course I approach this with reason - certain days I'm constantly shifting the time around. Maybe I have to modify things to a quick 20 minute at home workout if the day gets extra busy. But I almost never skip it entirely.
Nutrition Tip: Tacos
Tacos are the easiest, simplest meal to "cook". And they are super healthy and high protein if made correctly. Here's all you need:
Mission Carb Tortillas (warm 'em up in the microwave)
1 lb of any lean ground meat (takes 5 mins to cook in a skillet), add seasonings
Various chopped veggies (I usually go with spinach, bell peppers, avocado). Buy a vegetable chopper for $20 on Amazon - game changer.
Shredded cheese or crumbled feta cheese
Condiments: salsa, hot sauce, G Hughes BBQ sauce, tzatziki, or hummus
Sometimes we swap in shrimps for the ground meat. Shrimps are so underrated - straight protein. And they are equally easy to cook in the skillet.
The entire operation takes 10-15 mins.
Make some tacos this week, and let me know how it goes.
Stay well this week,
